This morning (24/9), Minister of health of INDONESIA, Dr. Nafsiah Mboi, Sp a., MPH, opening event of The Third APEC High Level Meeting on Health and the Economy, in Nusa dua Bali. Present at the ceremony, Minister of health of Chinese Taipei, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Japan (represented by Assisstant Minister), the United States and the Philippines (represented by Senior Officials). Other participants is representative Government (health sector), academia, industry, related international partners (World Health Organization, World Bank, Asian Development Bank), and others.
In his speech to convey the theme of Menkes on the 3rd APEC meeting this was the Model for Sustainable health services (A Model for Sustainable Health Care). This needs to be appreciated because for the first time health became priority issues on the agenda of APEC, which during many operates on economic development.
With the theme of medorong us to identify strategies needed for a sustainable health system that is comprehensive, easy-to-access, appropriate and efficient. In determining the strategy we should emphasize health promotion and prevention of disease and disability. In addition, health promotion efforts in addition to coordinating with cross-sector should be well-integrated into the service reference, with secondary and tertiary information service Menkes.
The results are expected at the meeting, this is the recommendation of the HLM to help achieve sustainable health systems across APEC economies, in order to improve the quality of life and productivity. Recommendations are expected to contribute towards economic growth and lower the costs of individual health and national economies, APEC
I hope we can together achieve this important goal, working together towards the achievement, by means of bekontribusi on people's welfare as well as continue to build economic strength and social community of APEC, said Menkes.
So that individuals get the highest degree of health, health issues should be an important goal of the economy. This effort requires significant investment and effort organized in generating public health status, high-quality and productive workforce. This can be achieved through the provision of health services that are fair and equitable, sustained with great concern. It will produce a great benefit to the community and increase competitiveness in the global market.
The Government of Indonesia has selected health issues as one of the top priorities of APEC leadership in achieving sustainable growth that is equitable. The main issues of health on the agenda of APEC this year reflects the recognition of the economic growth we will be among APEC economies. Let's capitalize on a two-day meeting to decide the best plans for the menformulasikan over the economic interests of our peoples, obviously Menkes.
Menkes asserted, this meeting is important to generate recommendations that can advance the nation's health and strengthens our economy into the future. These recommendations will be presented to APEC Ministers and leaders of the world to be considered and agreed at the APEC ministerial meeting and APEC Economic Leaders Meeting in October.
Before closing his speech, Menkes invites all delegations participate actively in meetings to share experience and expand knowledge through interaction with other delegates and the panelists.
